The members of the first class arrived on Sunday. Some of us drove, some of us flew and some just rolled in from thier homes in Houston. No matter how we arrived, all were happy to be here. That's not to say we weren't a little nervous. No one knew what to expect but we were ready for the challenges that come with changing your life.
Thank heaven for Facebook. Through Crossover House we planned a meet and greet in the lobby. At 5pm we began to gather. So many names and faces were familiar. We hugged, shared stories and found to our surprise several Continental people came to welcome us. Deborah and Tony, Connie, Lisa Bronte and Mary all came to spread good cheer.
Names only recognized on fb came to life in the lobby that night. Pam, Fiji , Jennifer, Paul, Deggery, Omar, William, and so many more became flesh and blood people. We all shared the same dream and on Sunday night that dream became reality.
We retired to our rooms smiling and Peter Santiago summed it up in his fb post ;
"I am filled with Joy......."
We all are Peter.

ReplyDeleteWe haven't started yet until next week. But one thing for sure that if you were standby at airport for 3 hr 59 min and you were assigned a pairing (trip), you will get both the trip pay and the 4 hr standby pay. Forget about it at S-UA, you will only get paid for the trip (if you were lucky enough to get a trip)even after you had been standing by at the Domicile for 4 hr 59 min.
ReplyDeleteJust a slight correction...you would only get 2 hours plus the trip pay. You only get four hours of airport alert pay if you go unassigned, or if you sit more than 4 hours of a 6 hour AA assignment and then get a trip. It's in section 5I of the CBA.
